Annoying game mechanics

Gaming the last decade evolved alot. From a.i. physics to graphics games became more realistic and complicated. Game mechanics we were accustomed with such as health packs are giving way to new game mechanics. That is not always good though and some of those gameplay changes are down right annoying

1.

Number one on my list is lack of manual saves or quick saves. Why do i have to rely on the game deciding when its good to save. Granted the autosave system in most games is much improved over the earlier attempts but still there should be option for manual saves. Some people say manual saves make the game easier. On the contrary manual saves dont make the game easier but they do make the game more enjoyable. I dont need to kill a bunch of easy difficulty guys in a video game over and over and over in order to get to the tough guy just to die for the 10th time and have to do the process over again instead of just loading just before the hard point of the game . If devs wanted to give us a challenge ( which is the excuse they usually use ) at least implement a save system such as the one used in the Witcher 2. You are allowed to save the game anywhere but not during battles which is a great middle ground

2.
 a good old healthpack

Regenerating health. When did they though that by hiding from bullets and sucking my finger to autoheal is a good game mechanic? Give me a challenge devs. I need to work for my health , i need to explore the level to find a good old healthpack.

3.

Lots and lots of ammo

Infinite ammo. Again devs give me a challenge. Make my every bullet count. Dont put infinite ammo packs everywhere on the map. Metro 2033 ( at least on hard difficulty )  is a great example of how many ammo you can find and how every bullet you find gives you a feeling of relief and satisfaction . Some games even if you ramp up difficulty to the hardest they still give you next to unlimited ammo. The only exception of the rule where infinite ammo isnt necessarily a bad think are strategy games where focus should be on tactics and unit movement instead of worrying about ammo for every one of my few hundred units ( otherwise it would become a chore ).

4.
ahh lets trade stories by the campfire

Unskippable dialogs and cut scenes . Probably the most annoying feature of a videogame. For the love of god i'm replaying the game for the 3rd time why do i have to listem to every dialog and see every cut-scene again ? Why can't i just  press esc and move on to the gameplay part? Why are you forcing me to a boring dialog between two characters ? Really is it that hard for some devs to understand not everyone enjoys A.I. dialog especially if its full of cliches ?

Well thats it. At least those i can remember for now. There are alot of other annoying game mechanics as well but unfortunately  those seem to be quite common nowdays and hopefully devs will revise some of those mechanics in the future to make their games better and more enjoyable
