Probably the biggest one of all misconception about pc gaming ( since as of lately apparently we got over the whole "pc gaming is dying notion " )
Usually most people look at Dell/Hp/Alienware gaming line pc's that cost upwards $1000 and think pc gaming is an expensive hobby

On the contrary pc gaming can be cheaper hobby than console gaming ( of course it can end up been alot more )
A decent pc to build your own or have someone build it for you instead of buying an alienware can be made for as low as 500-700euros ( and alot less if you reuse parts from your old pc like a Hard drive or Dvd-drive )

Sure it doesnt look as good as the alienware but its half the price for almost identical performance














Now days pc hardware is quite cheap and you can get alot bang for your buck
Just look at amazon UK or Newegg
You can build a pc based around an i5quad core a  P67 mobo ,4-6gb DDR3 133mhz Ram , a 500gb HD, a decent 450-500W PSU ( getting a good 80plus 450W psu is much better than getting a $30 700W unknown one ) and a budget case will cost you about 500-600 pounds

Of course the initial cost a decent gaming pc is more expensive than consoles but dont forget that a PC is a tool that can be used for more than just gaming

Also pc games are most of the times cheaper than console counterparts ( most pc games launch price is 40-50 euros as opposed to 60 on consoles )
Then you have Steam, gamersgate, D2D and other DD sites deals that you can buy games for dirt cheap ( during winter and summer sales both steam and Gamersgate have hundreds of games for 50-90% discount including AAA titles like Dirt series, Metro, Battlefield and others )
     
In the end you pay more for hardware but the cheapest software and the uses a pc can have more than make up to to the higher initial cost and quite honestly as of lately it really worth it been a pc gamer  more indies than ever , games that found their way to pc gaming from console world like ridge racer , more exclusives than ever and much better graphics and the biggest advantage of pc gaming MODS ( but that is for a later post of mine )
